Auto Transmissions – Keep it cool man, keep it cool

In Tucson, Arizona where temperatures can reach 110 degrees Fahrenheit transmissions shops have business backed up around the block. And why one very simple reason. The owners of the vehicles failed to realize the connection between their cooling system and their transmission. The most important thing you can do to keep your vehicle cool in the brutal heat here in Tucson is to keep your oil changed regularly, keep your coolant at the proper level and be sure you are servicing your transmission precisely according to the owners manual.

The alternative can be disaster. Instead of spending what amounts to a few dollars a month you could be facing a bill in the thousands. In some of the newer model vehicles a transmission rebuild can cost up to 5,000  USD and if you haven’t kept up on your maintenance to the “letter of the law” you’re warranty could be voided. I recently was told by my physical therapist that her dealership denied replacing her tires on a vehicle that had been bought with “tires for life” because she had gone past the
rotational miles by 317 miles.

On older models finding parts can be a huge problem in which case you will be in a position of buying a new vehicle. Finally, the inconvenience of having to get around while you figure out the whole thing just isn’t going to be any fun in Tucson’s 100 degree plus temperatures. So, as the title says, keep it cool man, keep it cool.
